The theme for the first day was Join Me.. .Be Drug Free. The Carrier WeatherMaker Infinity students were given their red ribbons and signed a balloon committing to be drug free. Numbers were also drawn and prizes were given for students who were nt wearing 21 their red ribbon throughout the week. Wednesdays theme was Its Hot To Not and they received a box of red hots stating this. Students also wrote drug free messages that were put inside helium balloons. Several students faces were painted with red dots representing the number of JMS students who already use alcohol, tobacco, or drugs. After the assembly the students were handed a fortune cookie with a drug free message in it and more prizes were given. Friday was Get High On Life...Not Drugs day! A hot air balloon was scheduled to come and a lucky student was going to go for a ride, but due to the weather conditions it was unable to fly. The helium balloons couldnt be launched either. The students enjoyed all the activities though and appreciated the PTSA for all their hard work. The end of 1st quarter is Thursday and there will be no school held Friday. Teachers will be preparing grades that day. Elementary school will hold Halloween Carnival The overall NO SMOKING winner of the No Smoking Poster Contest for Nephi Elementary School was Hali Nielsen, daugh- ter of Raymond and Sandra Nielsen of Nephi. Halis poster was used to be printed on for all the winners of the contest. The contest was sponsored by the Central Utah Public Health Department and the FACT ts The annual Nephi Elementary PTA Halloween Carnival will be held on Halloween night, Oc0 tober 31st, from p.m. at the elementary school. Lots of fun games are planned along with a drawing for great prizes. A dinner of chili, nachos, or com dogs, along with drinks and sweet rolls will also be available in the school cafeteria. Aaron Aagard Stephensen is being recognized as a Senior of the Week. Jim and Nellie Stephensen are his parents. He enjoys riding horses, hunting, and roping. His high school achievements include: graduating from the 9th, 10th and the 11th grades. What Aaron likes about JHS is the Rodeo Team. He plans on competing in the rodeos and working. Aarons advice to the younguns is, Live it up so you wont forget. Tina Michelle Howarth is being recognized as a Senior of the Week. She is the daughter of Steven and Kerry Howarth. She enjoys playing softball, and being with her friends.
