Most indoor plants are easy to grow and all will lighten up any dreary winter home with splashes of red, pink, yellow and purple, said Jerry Goodspeed, director of the Utah State University Extension Botanical Gardens at the Ogden River Parkway. A few of the easier exotic plants he recommends are the Chinese Lantern, Bloodleaf or Beefsteak, Aluminum, Snake and Purple Heart. The Chinese Lantern is also called a flowering maple and ' has a maple-shape- d leaf with a white edge variegation. It will produce a striking orange blossom periodically, he said.
