Show center, museum dedicated Multi-purpo- se The Juab County center and Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum was dedicated Saturday, Sept. 5. Interested area residents and county, city, and state officials met on the lawn of the renovated building (once the Juab County Courthouse at the comer of Main and Center streets) to hear Milton Harmon, a trustee of Special Services DistrictNo. 1, offer the dedicatory prayer. We dedicate this building as a place of education for all citizens, said Harmon. The building, he prayed, would multi-purpo- se be a place of many community uses where uplifting social functions could take place, where college and community classes could be taught, and where the pioneer heritage of the community could be preserved. He asked that the building might be an example in the minds of area residents, that future generations might continue to appreciate the heritage of the past and those who worked tirelessly to bring the project to completion, and that all may feel proud and humbled by the dedication of the pioneers. All of those places had been tem- porary, she said, and as a result, some valuable items had been lost. A permanent place had to be found or built, she said. Pioneer Park, which later became the Nephi City Park, had a cabin which housed some of the artifacts. The county commission, after much negotiation, agreed to give the old county courthouse, the old county jail, and the Brough building to the DUP. In addition, property now used by the county jail as an impound lot will belong to the DUP when the new jail is built.
