Show 50,000 people visit Juab County over Memorial Day weekend More than 50,000 people vis- ited Juab County over the Memorial Day weekend, says Dave Carter, Juab County sheriff. Carter said the rowdiest crowd was the 26,000 people who visited Yuba Lake. , We had 131 arrests during the holiday at Yuba, said Carter. We had about 16 officers on duty all the time, said Carter, not counting members of the East Juab Ambulance Crew and the East Juab Sheriffs Posse, who also were at the scene around the clock. While Yuba Lake attracted the largest number of people to a single site, it was not the only officers place put in long hours. There were approximately 8,000 people at the Hare and Hound motorcycle races at Cherry Creek and at the Little Sahara Recreation Area. The West Juab Sheriffs Posse and one deputy sheriff were there. The sheriff also said the camping areas near Burraston Ponds were full to capacity, and there were camps in Levan Canyon, on the Nebo Loop, in Salt Creek Canyon, at Mona Reservoir, and rt at sites. It wasnt easy, said the sheriff, to have 50,000 people converge on a county of 6,000 and maim-taipeace and make the holiday a good experience for families and for those who were there to have a happy and peaceful holiday. Many people told me they had quit coming to Yuba during Memorial Day weekend because they did not like the rowdy crowd, said Carter.
