Show Mona duo wins first place at UP&L alternate energy fair At Federated Clubs' state convention Local dubs won awards Local clubs received several awards at the Utah Federation of Womens Clubs state convention, held recently in Park City. The four federated clubs in the Delphic Club, the Nephi Nautilus Club, the Twentieth Century Club, and the Ladies received Literary League recogntion for sending a high school student to the Hugh OBrien youth leadership program. The Ladies Literary League received awards for outstanding Fifty students from Juab Middle School participated in Utah Power & Lights native energy fair recently. The competition was held at the College of Eastern Utah. Seventh, graders Jenny Wright and Melissa Mellor took first place in their division. Heard a report on the water system from Board Member Joe Jensen. Jensen has been working with Johansen Construction Company to clear up final problems with the towns new water system. He said he had checked a proported low spot in a new pipeline, but found things to be fine. Fittings that have blowp out and a leak in f he canyon lira have been fixed.'The collection box at the spring has been plastered where it was exposed and finer screen has been put on the headhouse vents. He also reported that the meter in the chlorinator building is broken and he is taking steps to fix it. He said the new system will be operational soon and details will be distributed with utility bills. Jensen expects town water pressure to double when the new system is operational. Heard from the Western Area Power Administration that it has received the towns proposal to fund a loadshedding system for the towns electrical system. If the town gets the grant, it will be awarded this summer. Discussed the hiring of a new town building inspector. Looked over the tentative budget for the next fiscal year. The town presently is set to spend $960,000, the majority of which will pay for electricity purchases. .
