Mayor Robert Steele gave his support for the applications, saying I feel it is a good opportunity for the city and people trying to develop businesses within the city. Nephi Lumber is seeking $100,000 in grants to relocate its store. The project would cost approximately $500,000. Robert Andersen and Grant Worthington are seeking in grant money to assist with a proposed $1.3 million project on the south interchange. Whether the businesses will get any or all of the money they ask for, however, is not known. The councils initial response was favorable, but they reserved their judgement until such time as the planning and zoning committee formally presents such a change to the council. Approved the commission of a special plaque for presentation to the widow of Ted Hill in commemoration of his service at the Municipal Rose Garden. The council will present the plaque to Mrs. Hill during a regular meeting at a later date. Considered future assistance in the upkeep of the rose garden by city parks employees.
