The meeting was Legion Aux observes Veterans Day Members of the American Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Ruth Chapman on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Fred Chapman gave a talk on patriotism. He urged that members support their elected leaders and honor their country. Members were thanked for their support of the cookie drive, in which 52 dozen cookies were sent to Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. The members also donated Christmas gifts for the veterans at the hospital, to be sent by the veterans to their families. Perhaps patriotism and flag waving have become old fashioned and passe, but it is still reassuring and heart waving. However, a few private efforts did not go unnoticed, and those who remember to display Old Glory in honor of Veterans Day are appreciated. But couldnt there be more?
