Stanley, a former resident of Nephi, was awarded a Silver Beaver award at the annual Utah National Parks Council Fellowship Dinner at Brigham Young University on Saturday evening. Stanley, now a resident of Orem, has been active in scouting for 33 years, serving as an assistant scoutmaster, a troop committeeman, an institutional representative and a scoutmaster. He received his Eagle award while living in Nephi and since has received the Scouters training award, the Scouters key award and the second miler award. Stanley is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints. He is a school teacher. His mother, Mrs. James R. Spring Views An electrical short in one of the fire phones in Nephi caused the long sounding of the Nephi City fire alarm siren on Saturday, according to Richard Bean, local representative of Mt. Bell. Bean said that the fire alarm system was designed for a certain number of telephone sets but that over the years extra sets have been added in the residences of fire department members, overloading the system. Nephi City has been requested to determine which sets should be eliminated in order to keep the system functioning according to its design and to prevent a reoccurence of the Saturday situation when the siren sounded for some time.
