It is one of the Portola Hybrids. These pretty flowers, in both annual and perennial forms, have become garden favorites because of their easy culture and their wealth of bloom. The plants grow and blossom best in full sun and an airy aituation, in well drained "open soil. This means sandy or gravelly soil that admits plenty of air to the roots. Both annual and perennial gaiiiardias are easily grown from seeds sown in early spring. Even the perennials will bloom the first year. Flowers of perennial gaiiiardias are handsome, 3 to 4 inches across, in yellow, orange, brick and burgundy, most often combining two of these colors. In perennials the Monarch strain, the Portola Giant and a variety named Torch Light have the largest blooms on the tallest plants, 2 feet to 30 inches. Contrasting with these is a dwarf named Goblin, only a foot high but with big flowers for its height. The Lollipop series and two varieties. Fiesta and Gaiety, are most widely available among the annual gaiiiardias. The Lollipops are dwarfs, the mounded plants only 10 inches high; the flowers ball shaped and double. There are named varieties of Lollipops like Lemon Delight, with yellow flowers and Raspberry Red with scarlet blooms or you can buy a mixture of colors in one seed packet TCs te the Utanutecturart Suggested Retal Price lor a 1972 Dodge SweptSne Custom pickup with h whee&ase and all engine, standard equipment VhKe sktewafl tires and wheel covers shown la Castration are optional, at extra cost Destination charges, state and local brae, and DaeSar peepanSsn charges, ft any. are er 115-Inc- meraes CLASSY DOUBLEWIIT FLARES V.
