Parliamentary Procedure Mona DUP Cabin of Jay Dailey, local Future Farmers advisor, and four officers of the local chapter, spent the afternoon of August 16 teaching parliamentary procedure to more than 70 trade and industry teachers from various high schools of Utah. The group of teachers held a four-daworkshop on leadership for their vocational and industrial clubs of The workshop was America (UNICA). held at the Granite District Mill Holler camp area east of Kamas. Mr. Dailey distributed information on parliamentary procedure and made explanations of the various phases of parliamentary law. He also explained the value of its use in holding meetings and developing youth in speaking ability and leadership. Chapter officers Tracy Olsen, Brent Dailey, Kerry Yates and Chris Nellsen then covered the various steps In holding meetings by actual demonstration with explanation of the steps being made as each step was covered. The officers also gave a demonstration of how a contest is held in FFA competition. The teachers then divided Into groups and with the assistance of the ML Nebo chapter delegation, they set up the procedures for holding a meeting, and some of the group then demonstrated their ability to use parliamentary law. The FFA officers rated the demonstrations and selected a winner. Garth Hill, state specialist in trade and industrial education, extended thanks to Mr. Dailey and his officers for their help, and many good comments were made by teachers involved. The advisor and the local chapter group were selected because during the time Mr. Dailey has been teaching the local chapter has had the most outstanding record in the state, winning first place in state competition six times, and thrid place twice in the past 15 years. P. was organized in 1931. They later decided to build a memorial park and place a pioneer cabin and monument In it The location chosen was the old Mona cemetery. In 1937 the D.U.P. started looking for a cabin In 1938 a cabin was purchased for approximately 15 dollars. The cabin had been built In recent years but was built from logs tom from the home of Harry and Charlotte Kay. Years later the home was tom down and the logs were used to erect a cabin for William Kay. When the D.U.P. placed the cabin in the park in 1945, they had the roof tom off and a log and dirt roof constructed on the cabin. Also a fireplace and chimney were built During the next ten years the Daughters gathered relics and pioneer furniture from Mona townspeople, adding bit by bit to its completion among these relics are: Key to the Nauvoo Temple, donated by Iona Young Kay, whose father was a guard at the temple. Clock donated by Flossie Kay. Platter donated by Kathy Kay. It originally belonged to Stephen L. Richards grandmother. Copper kettle donated by Lila Stanley. Originally it was Mary Alice Kays. Small copper kettle which was originally a sacrament bucket Childs bed donated by Mary Jane Kay Newell. Big rocker donated by Mary Alice Kay. Chum donated by Eliza Day Kay. Dress donated by Erma Keyte. Chest of drawers donated by Elize Day Kay. Large bed donated by Florence Newton. Originally it belonged to Celia Kay. On Memorial day, May 30, 1964, the DUP displayed their Pioneer cabin and memorial park at an open house. After many years of hard work, a dream finally became a reality. one-roo- Honor Young Couple An open house at Levan on Friday, Mr. August 25 will honor recent-wedand Mrs. L. Blair Stephensen. Mr. and Mrs. Stephensen were married at Ely, Nevada on August 25. The new Mrs. Stephensen is the former Patricia Wiliams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl T. Williams of Orem. The groom is son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Stephensen of Levan. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend the open house, from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Cecil Stephensen home in Levan. s, Travel Utah Distributes New Booklets On Attractions Travel Utah, Inc., the states official private sector travel organization, is distributing over 300,000 copies of the 1972 edition of the Guide to Traveling and Shopping in Utah, prepared and designed to aid and inform the Utah tourist in discovering Utahs scenic wonders. This guide, available at Nephi Chamber of Commerce offices as well as at member businesses of the area, lists all member businesses in each of the nine tourist regions throughout the state. Descriptions of each region, with emphasis on that areas major attractions, preceeds the member listings. Jay C. Mickelson, chairman of the Panoramaland Travel Council and a director of Travel Utah, encourages all to obtain a copy of the Guide and to study it for future touring within the state.
