It has been a great 19 years. I have seen many of the county employees come and go, and want to thank them for the kindness to me. I want to thank the Library Board members who gave of their time and guidance over the past years; Joyce Martin served on the library Board for eight years then continued to serve on the State Library Board. Joyce pushed ahead to get grants to install computers and get the library collection automated. Anthony Torres encouraged us to get computers and automate our collections. All the patrons helped me through the years to have the courage to make the changes that the library needed in these changing times. The Sheriffs Department let us use inmates to rebind the Library and Elementary School Library soft cover books, and to clean snow from the sidewalks. The youth assigned Citizenship hours raked and cleaned the pine needles and leaves from our patio and lawns. Our Eagle Scout (Clay Pehrson) built the bench around the tree on the patio. The mothers brought their children to story hour, and many times conducted the program. Betty Palmer kept the Monticello Book Club going. Peggy Erickson conducted story hour and the summer reading program last year. Rick Richardson, new to the library staff, has nine computer stations working for the patrons, and has the library computer system and internet service up to date. The generosity of Empire Electric over the years with their yearly donation of $500. This year the money wras used for flat screen monitors for the checkout desk and the office workstation, which gave us much needed space. Dell Hunter for many years took care of the building and grounds. Seleeh Neet designed and decorated the foyer bulletin board this past fall and winter. Many thanks to past employees who contributed much to the working of the library. Im sure I missed some of the great people who made my years at the Library a great experience. Please forgive me. There will be changes at the Library, but change can be good. Vee Carroll Brent Johansen D.D.S.
