Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday, September 29, 2004 - Page 14 Desert writers workshop planned Canyonlands Field Institute is hosting the 19th annual Desert Writers Workshop and Retreat from October 21 to 26, 2004. The workshop provides the opportunity for both experienced and beginning writers to explore the connections between landscape and spirit, between humans and the natural world, and between writers and language. In order to accommodate local participants, CFI will offer a special commuter rate of $650 for individuals from Grand and San Juan Counties. The commuter rate in- cludes writing instruction, Field trips, lunch, and dinner; but not lodging or breakfast. The workshop begins with a free public reading by Mary Sojourner and Dan Flores, workshop faculty, at 7 p.m. on October 21st. Thursday, Ecklecticafe, in Moab (352 N. Main), will be hosting the event.
