Letters to the Editor must be: No more than 350 words Signed Include the authors address and phone number The San Juan Record reserves the right to edit letters for length, clarity and to eliminate libelous or tasteless Receiving many boxes of merchandise each week, my city garbage can is overflowing. To help alleviate the problem, I ordered another garbage can for the Parlor. Today when I went to dispose of several large boxes, to my horror the can was filled with items other people have dropped in including an empty five gallon can of paint. This is not the first time such a thing has occurred. I am not spending $120 a year extra to not be able to accommodate my businesss needs. To those of you out there who dump your garbage in other peoples bins, I say STOR If there is room for additional garbage the day before the collector comes, asking the owner of the can would be a kind thing - to do. - May 21 thru Mag 28 29 Matrix Anger Management Stars Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson (PG-1- Reloaded 3) May 21 - 8:00 26 - 9:00 May 22-24, Holes H0l6S (VC,) Call for times am paying an extra price to keep from having stray boxes blowing around the community. It is like stealing to not ask permission to use another persons garbage containers. Thats what public garbage bins are for. To accommodate the public. I would hope the city of Monticello will not only put a larger public container just north of Pollys Parlor, but pick it up on a regular basis so as to avoid the public resorting to private bins - because the public bins are too full. Concerned over the spending by local to sufficient was this intended create Congress, pressure project in each Congressional district to prevent Congressional approval of an increase in the debt ceiling to $1 trillion. Twenty-twyears later, your national debt ceiling is $6.4 trillion with Congress voting last year to increase federal debt by $450 billion. Today, a baby is born owing $22,000 as his share of that debt, a debt he will be taxed to service, but new higher debt ceilings are on the way, hidden within the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2004 (II. (Jon. Res. 95). For fiscal year 2004 we see a new debt ceiling of $7.4 trillion! But by 201,4, the debt ceiling is to be allowed to climb to 412 trillion! All this talk of tax cuts is meant to obscure the real problem of uncontrolled spending. When you spend more than you bring in you must go into debt and the federal government is putting you and me into collective debt. This new budget bill, II. (Jon. Res. 95. was approved on April 11 by a vote of 216 to 211 in the House. All 216 yeas in the House were cast by Republicans, the supposed conservatives. Will Congress stop their terrible spending spree and debt accumulation before American bankrupts? What will you do? Bliss W. Tew Orem, UT out-of-contr- NEWSPAPER Paste-u- p Mark E. I have been popping my buttons on his recent accolades as the Small Business Journalist of the Year for the State of Utah as well as Region 8, consisting of Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, plus competing as one of ten finalists for the national title. For his many involvements in the community, county and state projects, I marvel at his energy and tenacity to fulfill his responsibilities, as well as being a devoted husband and father. On visits to Monticello and being with my sister Dawn, the chief proofreader, I have been exposed to what goes on behind the scenes of publishing your hometown San Juan Record each week of the year. Notwithstanding all that goes on the week prior to collecting, compiling, doing photo shoots, etc., etc., Monday begins the critical day if you are to receive your paper on time. The tension mounts as the pasteups, assembling of all pages, making sure nothing is left out, proofreading etc., etc. This goes on until midnight or later. Home for a couple hours of shut eye - up at daylight, back to the Record office for final tabulation and maybe inserting a last minute article to fill space and then off to the Cortez, Colorado printers (58 miles away) for printing, bundling, and loading in the van for the mad dash back to Monticello to be unloaded at the Record office, unbundled, segregated according to areas, labeled for mailing, oh, yes, bundled again, loaded in the van and off to the post office to meet the 3:30 deadline (if you want your paper on due date), and Im sure unbundled again and dispatched to your mail box. Bill, you have got to be crazy to enjoy this! But I havent forgotten you telling your father in your earlier years that you would some day probably publish the San Juan Record. Because you do it with such finesse, we applaud your journalistic talents and abilities and achievements. Please join with me in saying to Bill - A JOB WELL DONE!!!! You bundler, you!
