Thank you. its readers Dear Editor: Henry van Dyke once penned, Say not, Too poor, but freely give; Sigh not, Too weak, but boldly try; You never can begin to live Until you dare to die. This year, the Monticello Buckaroo football team certainly illustrated the principles of character and respect that van Dyke envisioned, to the rest of the state of Utah. This 1996 team entered the state tournament just as they began the season, believing in themselves. Thanks to many community businesses, such as fled Ford and especially to Mike Young Chevrolet, the boys felt supported in their efforts to fight for a state championship. Special thanks to all the parents who served the mouth (team dinners and e treats) as well as the soul (talking to their boys after the games and being proud of their son); and to the principal, Mr. Crane, who encouraged us, as post-gam- to be proficient in the classroom as well as on the field because teacher-coache- s, there are life-lesso- coaches deserve credit to the teams success more than anyone. Justin Scherick, Bruce Adams, Dave Allen, Chris Singer, Kent Barr, Jim Eberling, and Troy Simonson (not necessarily in order of age) worked hours with the boys trying to foster a sense of purpose on this team and preparing the boys for each game. As you can see, many peo- ple were behind the success of this team and I am very proud to call attention to them, because they have set taught in both arenas.
