Show Around The Haf by Doris Valle was so excited! I looked out my window and for one I brief shining moment I could see the sun! Alas and alack its gone now and - the skies are again gray and weeping. Not raining. Just weeping. These are days that try mens souls and womens souls, too. Here we are fortunate that life, limb, and property are not endangered although there were some tense moments when the well being of the town water system was in question. My daughter, Cynda, and my newest grandson, Valle, are in sodden Los Angeles and my long distance phone bill is going to be horrendous. I dont know why I keep calling since its a little difficult to put sand bags against a dam from here. Southern California has not had rain in so long that it is physically incapable of containing such an excess of moisture. For one thing builders bull doze a little dirt up against a hillside in a sort of terrace arrangement and then set houses on the loose soil. Years go by. All sorts of vines and trees and plants root in the soil and hold it in place. Unless it happens to rain before all that vegetation gets its little feet firmly planted. Grover, son of Merlin and LuAnn Grover has received a mission call to serve in the Oregon, Portland Mission. He will en- ter the Missionary Training Center on February 24th. Elder Stuart Black has returned from a successful mission to Columbia, South Carolina. His parents, Ben and Glenna Black with other family members met him at the Salt Lake Airport on January 8th. Happy to announce the birth of their first child, is Bryan and Jill Martin. A baby girl was bom on January 2 in Grand She will be Junction. 6-l- b. 5-o- z. named Taimie Shaye. Great grandma Shirley Shumway was in Grand Junction to help the Martins with the new one. Brenda Jones has re- ceived a call to serve in the mis- Hungary, Budapest sion. She will enter the MTC in Provo on the 31st of BEAUTIFUL BRIGHT SUNSHINE March. Brenda has been working at the Day Care -- rage 9 everyone had their windows rolled down.
