He passed away June 1987 following a illness. lengthy Ashton grew up in Blanding, 1, Utah with his four sisters and one brother. He married Vernis Washburn on May 25, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gene and his brother Jed. In appreciation union were bom eight children. Ashton was a farmer, first and last. He loved the land and produced good crops. Almost nothing brought him more happiness than harvesting a really good crop of hay, wheat or pinto beans. He was greatly interested in the Farm Bureau. He was president of the San Juan County Farm Bureau for 15 years.
