She has some broken bones but her eye is undamaged. We were further saddened to hear of the death of Susie Maryboy, a long time Navajo friend. She died in her sleep the night of March 5. Helen Parrish, who is undergoing treatment for cancer in Salt Lake City, came home for a visit over the weekend. Terry French was home for a week to visit his mother, Lena, and to celebrate his 18th birthday. He has now returned to his school in Provo. Clemma Clarence and Johnson spent a day in Cortez. Our postmaster, Maurine Black, went to Price for a postmasters meeting. Her clerk, Dawn Bellum, was on her way to work, running with her children on their way to school. When she came to the bridge over Cottonwoon Wash, she tripped and fell, hitting her head on the guard rail. She suffered such a deep cut around her eye, they feared she might lose her eye. She was taken to Grand Junction for treatment. Meantime, back at the post office, there were no keys to get in, so it closed for the day. The course is the first step toward state certification as a Firefighter I.
