Hurst recently brought home 25 crates of artifacts from a 1976 Butler Wash project that had been stored at the University of Denver. Hurst indicated there is and enough documentation curation work on the Butler collection to keep him busy for a year. This is in addition to the many other items the museum is receiving on a regular basis. Hurst said as more federal collections are received there will be a need for more storage space and more personnel. The staff at Edge of Cedars is currently working on guidelines for handling incoming collections that will eventually be displayed at the museum. If the trend continues toward more emphasis on protection of archaeological sites and artifacts, Edge of the Cedars could become a center for documen- tation and research, says Steve Olson, Utah State Parks employee and museum director. Four State Park employees currently handle all duties at Monument Valley, Goosenecks, Edge of the Cedars, and Newspaper Rock state parks.
