THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday June 13, 1984 - Page 7, V Monticello child on Miracle Telethon Sixteen month old Neal son of Bill and Christensen, Shirley Christensen of Monticello, took part in the nationally televised Children's Miracle Network Telethon last weekend (along with his mother.) Neal is being treated by Primary Children's Medical Center for spina bifida andhe and his parents were "invited by the hospital to participate in the telethon. The second annual Miracle Telethon, sponsored by the Osmond Foundation and the National Association of Children's benefited 65 childHospitals, ' ren's hospitals with over $12 million pledged nationally. Primary Children's Medical Center received over $192,000 in pledges and all of this money stays at the hospital to help pay for the care of children whose families cannot meet the medical expenses. All other resources must be exhausted before a child's care is paid for by telethon pledges but no child is turned away for lack of funds. Primary Children's Medical Center serves children from Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, and Idaho. The guest list of performing artists on thetelethon seemed to include nearly everyone in the entertainment world. Veterans Upward Bound at NAU You can receive Veterans! Bill educational benefits for enrolling in College Prep classes at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona. The Veterans Upward Bound full-ti- GI me (VUB) College Preparatory pro- gram needs veterans and will assist the veteran with adaption to the college environment, while earning 12 credit hours. The VUB GED program will assist the veteran in achieving his Instructors and materials for the GED can be arranged for locations outside of Flagstaff. These guidelines o? TK2 r.orrm apply to women 20 and over, - and those under 20 who are sexually active. San Juan High PTSA In an effort to determine priority issues, the newly organized San Juan High School PTSA recently, surveyed the faculty, and community of students, Blanding. President elect Ruth Brown stated that the results will be used to help determine which areas need work next year. Over 100 parents participated in the survey, with 30 completed forms returned. The need for better discipline at the school was the top concern listed by Problems related to parents. and alcohol ranked second; drugs the attitude and apathy at the school third; academic achievement was fourth; and teacher burnout was fifth. In a meeting with student body officers over 15 areas of concern were listed. The need for improved school spirit and formation of a pep club ranked as the top choice. Eldredge on Saturday, June 16, at the home of her father.
