Robison, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) state director, Utah, announced his decision to classify 57,656.97 acres of public land for state indemnity selection. Consisting of nine tracts, the public land is located in San Juan, Grand, Carbon, Daggett, Iron, Sanpete, Sevier, and Uintah Counties and ranges in size from 301.32 acres to 18,394.23 acres. Classification will allow transfer of public lands to the state Writing competition Governor Matheson awarded amounting to more than 42-pri- zes to Utah writers in a ceremony celebrating the 26th Annuaf Utah Original Writing $15,000 of the Competition. Forty-owent to writers who subawards mitted their work this year and (me other award went to the winner of a special $5,000 publication prize to assist in the publishing of the work that won th first prize last year for a submission. The 41 writers winning this year's top honors come from a variety of backgrounds and geographical areas, Som e of the winners are professional writers who have won prizes before and some are new writers submitting their work for, the first time. The competition, open to any legal - resident of the state, attracted ; submissions from nearly 50 communities with a distribution blanketing the entire state.
