We do . appreciate the business our customers and former customers have given us and we will continue to be open seven days each week until all our customers are former custom- ers. But I would like to inform the former customer who wrote the little letter that if this happens, we are in a position where wes can close our doors if our services are no longer needed and say adios. sRex and Allie Nielson . Dear Editor; We would like to express our sincere appreciation, andheart-fe- lt thanks to our local Emergency Medical Technicians for their speed, compassion and professional approach both times we have called them for our Mother. They were here and had her to the hospital in a matter of minutes. Prompt and professional action can mean life or death to apatient. R is comforting to knowthatwe have thi$ fine service in our community, and our Emergency Medical Technicians are a boon to our health care system. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Hazel French John and Eula Stuckey Carl and LaVeda Mahon Dear Editors, The disagreement I. over the issue will bonding Safeway we will not last be the certainly ever face, therefore I would like to make a few observations. First, much of the interaction was in good taste and a fine of the democratic example process. However, there were those who made the issues personal rather than political. The city council was badgered onboth sides by unfair insults and insinuations that were far below those who made them. How many of us have ever taken the time to express appreciation for the 15 to 50 hours per month the mayor and council serve us? Money may be. adequate compensation but an occasional thanks would probably go a long way. I personally discussed the issue with most of the council, though I disagreed with some, I was convinced that each had sincerely labored over the question and made a decision with integrity. I appreciate that. Second, I hope that threats of reprisal for opponents on either side would be out of the question. The attitude that anyone who disagrees with me wUl have to pay a price, is a widely practicedprin-cip- al in many of the dictatorships of the world. S is a disturbing, even frightening, one to see in a democratic Christian Commun- ' tty- - - Page 20 hope we will rise to the occasion with strength and dignity, pushing toward the common goal of economic development, and not be torn apart by petty pride and revenge. Sincerely, Lynda Shumway Dear Editor, I have lived in San Juan County now for six winters. I live about a mile east of Huntfs Club on the road to the north. Fm up to my eyeballs in mud. The reason I am isbecausethe has not kept the snow county off of the road. It gets plowed packed and when the county grader comes by, the operator just skims over the top. It melts and puddles and due to the heavy traffic, makes one fine big mud puddle. I am not happy and none of my neighbors are happy -none of us are raising hogs out here. I was not happy when, the last time around, the county wanted to raise my taxes by over 240 percent on my mobile home because I added a small addition. The commissioners sat there and told me the county was being fair. Why is it that the county cant seem to provide the same services they used to before I enriched their bank accounty so generously. On the weekend of the 19th, the road drifted closed on the hill in front of Bellmans old place. I, and most of my neighbors, arranged to get stuck in it before one of my neighbors backed apath through with his farm tractor. I was stuck and asked one of the county employees who came by in a pickup to puU me out with my chain. He refused saying he only-ha- d drive and didnt a want to get stuck in the ditch with me. A: in a typical bedded salt site repository, about 21 million tons of salt will be excavated. About , . . eight million tons will be surface stockpiled and thebalanceusedas backfill. To handle the surface stockpile, an area will be excavated and all top soil removed. The pit wiUbe lined with an impervious material.
