This arrangement could offer a balance of views, provide thepeople of San Juan County a look at the broader scope of the issue, and insure some degree of objectivity whereby a report of the impact of the beer Initiative upon the County would be credible. sPaul Foreman sJanet from Paul Foreman and Janet Wilcox has some errors of fact and thus makes assumptions and conclusions that are erroneous. The County is spending no tax money to lobby for or against the so called beer initiative. The San Juan Commissioners and the members of the Development Board have taken positions opposition to the adoption of the proposed ordinance. This position was taken because of convictions that : 1: it will not solve the problems of alcohol abuse and use; 2: it will further increase bootlegging; 3: it will generate disrespect for the law and many people believe it is an attempt to legislate religious beliefs; 4: it will specifically destroy the busiand livelihood of many people, seriously erode overall business in the County, encourage and even force many more people to go outside the County and State to buy many products in addition to beer and; 5: discourage tourists from visiting andor staying in the County. The Commissioners and Development .Board Members, have the. responsibility to take positions on these and other issues that they consider to be in the best interests of the County. C itizens have the right to agree or disagree and act accordingly.
