Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Thursday October 7, ikflohekce He by Florence Galbraith It was a thrill to watch and listen to B landing pianist Kent Lyman as he appeared on Talent Showcase, a Salt Lake City television show. Kent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Lyman, is pursuing a degree in music at ' the University of Utah. Aunt Irene Redd celebrated her 95th birthday September 30. She spent the day with her daughter, Francelle Blickenstaff, where friends and other family members, including a son, Loyd, of Fort Worth, called to wish her well. Frank and Dora Wright were pleased with a visit last week from their son, Willard, of Charlottesville, Virginia. 1982 - Page 10 Willard was enroute to LDS conference in Salt Lake City where he represented his stake. While he was in B landing, his sister Dorothy, brother Ted and Teds wife, Glenna, arrived from San Diego. Wednesday evening Bevanand Elaine Wright hosted a family Thursday, Lynn and Yvonne Wright entertained at a family dinner. The Wrights had not seen Willard for over two years, so it was a grand reunion er. get-togeth- for all. Last Kent weekend Mr. and Mrs. Frost of Monticello enter- tained their River Rat friends. from Michigan City, Coming and Indiana, staying with longtime friends, Frank and Dora Wright, and Rita Plhetka. Kent and Irene Redd enjoyed a weekend visit from their children, most of whom live in the Salt Lake City area. Coming to visit were Michael and family, Joan and family and Lynn and Janie. The first of five PTA newsletters scheduled for publication this year will be sent out this week. The news for the paper was gathered by elementary-ag- e The students. newsletter, entitled PTA Pony Express, will be mailed to all who joined the PTA. There will be a copy for all who join. Dues are only$2.50 for the school year. The San Juan Center for Higher Education will host Education Days in the near future. Utah Navajo Development Council will host a going away party for Dr. Jacob Mittleider, garden scientist, who has spear- headed the garden project at Halchita. The party will be held at the UNDC Learning Center on Tuesday, October 12, at 3:30 p.m. Dr. Mittleider has demonstrated that food can be grown in any type of soil if the proper groundwork is laid and fertilizer and water are adequate. He will go next to Central America where he will participate in a similar demonstration project. The public is invited to attend. Writers Anonymous The annual resurgence of Writers Anonymous is planned for Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. at the Blanding public library. All famous writers, writers shrouded in anonymity, and writers who wish to continue to be unknown are invited to attend. Instruction and sharing of ideas will be given by Paul Pitts of Montezuma Creek. The group will discuss the possibility of organizing a writers conference, or inviting an author to visit the area. Everyone having an interest in writing of any form is invited to attend. Blanding Bloodmobile Did you know that Red Cross blood is yours for the asking? Or that you dont need to worry about credits?
