The publisher at all times reserves the right to edit, condense or reject any contributions in the interest of brevity andor good taste. To the Editor: I almost wrote a letter twice before on the subject of Blan-dinDrive-I- n Movies, The first time was when I went to see the comedy Heaven Can Wait and had it literally destroyed for me by blackouts, gs framing troubles, sound troubles, focusing troubles, and constant reel change troubles. The second time I ever went, we hired a babysitter, made a date with another couple, and went to see Love at First Bite, After 45 minutes of gurgling sounds, the Drive-I- n shut down and decided this wasnt one of the nights they could get the projector to work. The title of those letters was simply to be: Small Town Need Not Be Tacky, Last night, however, I went for the third time. I had Mad mistakenly been told Max was P.G, and didnt bother to check for myself We arrived at the Drive-I- n. about 30 minutes late so, I am told, we missed the nude intercourse scene, and the implied homosexual acts between motorcycle gang members, however were just in time for the scene where the motorcycle gang ran down a couple in a car, chopped and tore the car to pieces, and then beat and raped the couple. The remaining 30 we we stayed, minutes watched a policeman wrecked by gang members and then purposely set afire, only to survive to suffer longer as a charred monsterous looking man in the hospital. We left as Maxs wife narrowly escaped the gangs grasp, but her baby was kidnapped by them. I found out (for the purpose of this letter) that we missed the part where the baby and mother were run down by the motorcycles and ground into the pavement. We aiso missed the revenge of triumphal who violently Mad Max disposed of one gang member after another using widely varied this movie and enjoy it. We finally left, sick, irritated, disgusted about 12 way through the show, as did many others at the same time. Will this eventually lead to X - rated movies in our area? Do we as a community need to take a more active role in the promotion of more suitable movies in this area? What kind of a commentary on the reviewing tastes of this town is it that it makes money for a Drive-I- n to show movies such as this? Thinking' the show, Mad was rated P.G., and Max never dreaming we would see such a show in Blanding, we actually paid to get in.
