Kimball, associate professor of engineering, said this week. It has been awarded now for about 10 years, each time going the engineering student to who shows most promise and who best exemplifies the caliber of student enrolled in the two - year SUSC program. Kimball said that the demand for trained engineers is growing rapidly each year and that engineering positions occupy top spots in a ranking of starting salary offers. The engineering award is made at SUSC each year on the recommendation of physical science and engineering department faculty. Linda was selected from the 55 students currently enrolled in the SUSC program, which provides the background for necessary a to transfer college or university offering advanced engineering degrees. Linda is an honor student at SUSC. She works several hours a week as an engineering and mathematics tutor for other students on campus. Generally, she said, she tu- tors between 15 and 25 students per week in addition to completing her own studies. The 1977 graduate of Monticello High School was president of the National Honor and earned an Elks Society Most Valuable Student award.
