MHS runners third By Bill Boyle Monticello High Schools cross-count- ry team had its first meet last week and started the week weU. The Bucks placed third overall in a meet at Cortez, Colorado. Buck finishers were Sanford Randall, fifth; Pat Whiskers, Leo Deal, 14th, and Arthur Yazzie, 17th. Scott Hansen, Jeff and Tony Montella also ran for Monticello in the meet which was won by theShiprock Chieftains. Coach Joe Wolfe Davis said he expects Monticello to place high in region and state crosscountry competition this year. Monticello has two straight region championships and last year placed fourth overall in the state. Coach Davis said he expects Whitehorse and Wasatch Academy to be the Bucks' toughest competition at state. The Buckaroos have 24 12th; Mus-selm- members on this 8-tra- ck years team, with five returning lettermen. Runners expected to place well for Monticello include Pat Whiskers, Sanford Randall, Arthur Yazzie, Van Codner, Mark Walker and Leo Deal.
