Entries m the 1978 contest more than doubled over last year. There weie eight sets ol judges. This beautification program is sponsored each year by the Tribune with the cooperation of Utah State University Extension Service, the Utah Associated Garden Clubs and the Utah Association ol Nurserymen. Blandmg is m District No. 7, which includes San Juan, Carbon, Emery and Grand Counties This beautiful plaque for best project in Disti ict No. 7 went to Carolyn. The special meeting (Fireside) which was held for all women and girls 12 and oldei of the LDS Church Saturday evening m the North Chapel was well attended by Bland -ing Utah's Stake. Stake Primary and Relief Society officers ushered, and the stake Relief Society and Primary presidents presided at the chapel. This is the first time a meeting of this kind has been held for women only. The whole meeting was broadcast from the Mormon Tabernacle over closed circuit radio from Salt Lake City under President Spencer W. Kimball and his councillors of the LDS Church. The program was heard nationwide throughout the church by radio in their different President chapels. Kimball's talk was preceded by Elaine Cannon, young moved to Ivins, Utah, where he has employment. They sold their home here to the Kay Shumways. Ivins is close by St. George. Lynn expects to take some college classes m order to become a CPA. The stake Seventies party scheduled for last Thursday evening was rained out and will probably be held at a later date. Imagine a party being rained out in Blandmg! New Blandmg residents are Leroy and Nancy Sandoval and son. They have moved into the home formerly owned by Mrs. Glenms Marks and her family. The Sandovals have two high school boys staying with them for the winter school season. Don and Martha Mose have their niece Mary Johnson staying with them for the school yeai.
