Ms. Ford has left for Denver, Colorado, to work for Teen Challenge, where she will be involved with the alcohol and drug abuse programs. Susan, not the daughter of Gerald, hails from Wexford, Pennsylvania. (Wex is not a relative of hers either). Susans mother, Lillian Ford, who incidentally IS a relative, came out west from Wexford and joined in the event. Susan initially came to San Juan County in March, 1975, as a VISTA sister. She was assigned to White Mesa to work with adult education and re- creation programs, which at that time were virtually nonexistent. She also instituted the nonprofit White Mesa taxi. Her little green Opel made innumerable daily runs to and from Blandsville, crammed with enough people to possibly rate mention in the Guiness Book of World Records. Once in a while Sus an was even permitted to drive her own car. After her VISTA obligations were fulfilled, Susan continued working in the field of adult education through the auspices of UNDC. This was followed by a year of teaching at San Juan High. In addition, she supervised the southern San Juan recreation program.
