Arleen Ruggeri is a native Utahn and lives in Moab where she is the DirectorOwner of the Jailhouse Gallery. Her paintings have been included in several area exhibits including the Utah Biennial of Painting and Sculpture, the Utah State Fair, Watercolor West, and in Colorado, the Colorado Center for the Arts, Grand Junction. Her awards include first place in watercolor at the Utah State Fair, the Sweepstakes Award in the Ouray National Exhibition and a merit award at the Dinosaur land Art Festival in Vernal. Mrs. Ruggeri, who received her BA degree in art from the University of Utah, has studied privately with EmilBistramof Taos, New Mexico, and at the University of Mexico and Utah State University. Of her own work, Mrs. Ruggeri says: Painting to me is a visual response to a personal, emotional, or intellectual experience. Newell at the March meeting of the National Park Service staff in Moab. The check for $150 was awarded Mrs. Newell, park technician at Arches National Park, for her book about the ge The book, A Story of Life at Wolfe Wolfe Ranch. 16-pa- depicts the life of the Ranch, early settlers in what is now the Wolfe Cabin Environmental Study Area. Larry Reed, Arches Unit Manager, said that Mrs. Newells book, which was printed by the Moab and has a been in publications contest, adds significantly to the Times-Independe- nt interpretive Arches National program of Park. Over a period of eight years, much of it on her own time, Mrs. Newell compiled all known written material about the Wolfe Ranch, collecting newspaper clippings and letters, and conducting interviews with Wolfe family members. Much of her research was original, such as developing a family tree, collecting Civil War records and discharge papers, and carrying on direct correspondence with Wolfe descendants. The book is on sale at the Arches Visitor Center and downtown Park headquarters.
