Community Education Basketball tournament held this past the newly-formweekend, Community Education Advisory Committee is anxious to be involved with sponsoring other worthwhile projects related to Adult Education, Continuing Education and Community Education. The Advisory Committee represents various tribal chapters in the Utah area, as well as board members from the Navajo Works Program of which the UNDC is now in charge. The Advisory Committee met March 13 with the Education Division of the Utah Navajo Development Council and discussed v a r i o u s projects. The Education Division feels that the formation of the Advisory group will stimulate greater involvement from the Navajo community in fostering educational programs as recommendations are passed from Chapter members to the UNDC Education Division. Communication between the two groups will now be more accessable. Those participating in the meeting were shown a film from the UNDC Driver Education' series entitled Automobile Insurance". The film depicted people and scenes from the Four Corners area and used a Navajo sound track. The UNDC has been conducting drivers education since November, 1974. The other nine high gaining (ADG) bulls all were Herefords. The top gaining pen owned by Lawrence Indergard, Grand Junction, and sired by NR Arden Don 180 and JH Real Ardmore 94, had the fourth and tenth high gaining bulls with ADG of 3.22 and 3.16 pounds. The bulls have been on a growing ration consisting of 68 per cent total digestible nutrients. Approximately 150 of the high gaining bulls from the 240 on test will sell May 5. Bulls are owned by members of the Four Corners Beef Cattle Improvement Association and CSU. Sale catalogs can be obtained by contacting A1 Denham, superintendent, San Juan Basin Research Center, Hesperus, or Jim Brinks, department of animal sciences, CSU, Fort Collins. The Four Corners Beef Cattle Improvement Association is planning to use the new testing facility for breeding heifers during the summer. Anyone interested in entering in the proheifers yearling to have them bred by gram artificial insemination to the bull of their choice should make reservations by May 1. A bred heifer sale is planned for late summer.
