Show 4 u FLORENCE 1972 Record By LAUREL 20, April Juan San The Bluff Stuff All Mens Shirts All Mens Pants All Mens Shoes By FLORENCE GALBRAITH Mr. and Mrs. Preston Redd had as dinner guests on Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Redd, Mrs. Sally Washburn, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Redd and baby daughter. The occasion was to get acquainted with the new daughter of the Jim Redds and to take pictures of the new baby with her parents, her grandparents, the Preston Redds, and with her the Wiley Redds and Mrs. Sally Washburn. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rogers had dinner Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Pep Redd. We are glad to report that Mrs. Neta Young is feeling much better at this writing. She is at her home. Mr. and Mrs. John Seely, Jr. of Provo came for a visit last weekend with his parents. They drove around tD points of interest while here. John and Joan couldnt help but notice the pure fresh air here after the smog of the city all great-grandparen- ts, winter. Mrs. Gene Hacking was pleasantly surprised last Sunday evening when she got home from church and there was her son, Tommy, whom she hadnt seen for some time. He is in the armed service. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Guy-mare enjoying a visit from their daughter, Carolyn, and her husband and baby daughon ter. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Keele were speakers in the Second Ward Sacrament services Sunday evening. Mrs. Keele, Mrs. Linda Brooks and Mrs. Lorraine Mantz also sang a beautiful vocal number. Blanding First Ward Sacrament service speakers were Oris Black, Lavar Lyman and Melvin Hurst, with vocal numbers from the choir. Stephanie Kartchner of the young ladies youth program also gave a talk. San Juan Stake is planning a temple excursion for May 5th and 6th. It is hoped a large crowd will be at the temple in Manti. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gines of Salt Lake called her parents, the Leo Blacks, on Saturday to wish them a happy wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary, Veva and Leo! Word was received here from Mrs. Rowena Winters, who is recuperating from her recent surgery at the home of her son, Jim, in Granger that she is improving each day and she wishes to thank her many friends for all their letters and cards these past few weeks. Mrs. Bert Palmer, her daughter, will fly to Granger the first of the week and take her mother to Scottsdale, Arizona for a few weeks in the warm sunshine. Mrs. Maggie Harvey entertained in honor of B landings Mother of the Year nominee, Mrs. Myrtle Redd, who is sponsored by Forum Club members. They, as well as close friends and relatives were invited - guests. Games of Rook and lovely refreshments were enjoyed by the ladies during the afternoon on Monday at the Harvey home. TAKE TIME TO DISCOVER ITS A DIFFERENT WORLD THOMPSON LD (r & li t) Mrs. Daisy Holton and Terry Warren, mother and nephew of C lemma Arthur, both of Globe, Arizona, flew in last Saturday morning in time for breakfast, on their way back to Globe from Durango, Colorado. They were met at the landing strip by neighbor Gene Foushee, who kindly provided transportation back to town. Barbara Huber is to be congratulated for her straight 4.0 grade average on the first semester honor roll at San Juan High School, where she is a senior. Congratulations also to junior Alice Pontius with an average of 3.95 for the same period. These high ratings have required many long hours of study and hard work. Janet and Jerry Sickles and three children from Gateway, Colorado, and Cindy and Tam- my Randolph of Naturita arrived on Friday night to visit the girls grandmother, Mrs. Merial Goforth. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Sickles went to Fry Canyon to return the little girl to her mother, who lives there. Cindy, Tammy, and Donnie spent the day with Mrs. Goforth and Bobby, and visited friends around town. Patricia Dennison has made a trip to Canada with her aunt, but details are not now available. Head Start mothers, as a part of their parent participation work, are meeting at the A.B.E. classroom for sewing. They are at present making shorts and tops for the Head Start children. Leona Roberts is the advisor for this activity. Grandma Davis (Mrs. has returned to Grants, New Mexico, after a three months stay in Bluff. Her daughter, Mrsl Buena Gaines, and Harriet Dimitrik took her to Grants on Wednesday. Our tiny shower on Thursday evening proved one thing: that it can still rain in Bluffj From the elementary school news team. Billison Rentz is back in school (second grade) after a long absence. In the fourth and fifth grade achievement contest for this week, Ben Frank won first place with a score of 89; Raylene Burnette, second place with a score of 87. Matt Cook - third, 86, Johnson Benally - fourth, 85, Richard Blackhorse - fifth, 82. (These close scores surely indicate the results of good teaching and learning; and congratulations to Raylene for getting her name on the list.) The Bluff All Tribes Indian Days, Inc. held the regular yearly meeting for elections at the Recapture Lodge on April 10. It was voted to assess the amount of one dollar per year for voting memberships. Seventeen paid memberships were sold. Members then voted that the original board of nine directors as chosen two years ago be held over for the present year.
