They sing, act, play instruments, write songs, scripts, and scenarios. Above all they entertain from Las Vegas to Hawaii, from Japan to Canada, drawing laughter one moment, sober reflection the next. Dick and Duane's show is a fast-pacvariety package of popular hits, hilarious sketches and dramatic scenes, and classic poetry showcased in original music. Musical arranger for the D's is Dick Davis, who also plays rhythm guitar, banjo and trumpet, and is jack of all musical trades for the duo. A tremendous audience favorite, Dick's solid baritone has an unusual range which enables him to ever-changi- ed ng I i j whisper solt in unison, growl rut a lusty work song, soar into intense falsettos, or delight audiences with his psychic impressions. Duane Hiatt, six foot five, sings tenor, writes scripts and lyrics, plays lead guitar and drums, laughs loud and sometimes hollers. He sees the world from an off-be- at angle, makes emotes, spns yarns, faces and tells jokes as he weaves the pattern of drama, humor and narrative that is a trade mark of their unique variety show. Duane sings soft ballads with deep sincerity and songs with reckless abandon. The D's work primarily in colleges and universities, but also play conventions, fairs, television, and church programs. Credits include television shows, records and personal appearances with such performers as Bob Hope, Johathon Winters, Joey Bishop, Bob Newhart. Tiem and time again, standing audiences witness that the D's know their trade and well. up-tem- po |
