The meeting was presided over by President Brent McAllister and conducted by Avanghn Hunt. Guest speakers were Free Lance with Dick Wilson of Moab who spoke of ways of publicising Blanding and San Juan County and Improving its tourist attraction possibilities. Douglas Galbraith a member gave a little history of Old Mexico and some of his own personal experiences with living there, illustrating his speech with colored pictures taken while he and his son Bill were there in the fall of 1968, visiting over some of the ical spots that he remembered as a child. Mr. Galbraith still remembers his Spanish quite well and enjoys spekaing it with his friends. He obtained a personal interview with Mrs. Pancho Villa while on this visit and learned that Mrs. Villa was Panchos' 10 wife. Mrs. Villa proved to be a charming lady and said she was 76 years old. Blanding's Memorial Park has it's spring cleaned look, thanks to Marilyn Shimway's and Erma Hurst's Cub Scout dens. These boys spent last Saturday morning picking up the trash and raking up last years dried plant material under the direction of Garden Club President Ada Rigby. The boys who helped were Mark Shumway, Tom Palmer, Jim Jones, Bruce, Hosier, Kevin Black, and Clark Hosier, Kevin Black, and Clark Hawkins. After the clean up the boys were taken to "Reservoir Park", for a wiener roast by their leaders. Blanding Gardeners had a good turn out at their prunning demonstration given last Thursday by County Agent Blaine Jones. Principles of plant grow growth and reasons for pruning were discussed before the group moved to the yard to see the application. Demonstration was given and practiced on hedge, roses, ornamental shrubs and peach trees. The young lad with his parents the Bill Galbraiths who live in Salt Lake City met them there and brought a picnic which all enjoyed at the Arches. The young man has been named Aaron Merrill Galbraith and according to his grandparents he is a beautiful happy child. Also coming along from Salt Lake City for the occasion were two of Mrs. Bill Galbraith's brothers, Roger and John Merrill. Bill Galbraith is busy preparing his thesis on Electrical Engineering which he is majoring in and he expects to get his masters degree sometime this summer. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lacy went to Salt Lake City last week to see their son Mike who has been in Language school in Provo learning the essentials of the French language. Mike boarded the jet for France on Monday where he will spend the next two years on an LDS Mission. Mr. and Mrs. Leland W. Redd left for a few weeks visit to Hawaii. They will drive to Salt Lake City and visit with relatives for a couple of days then board a jet for California and visit their daughter Shirley and family for a day or two, then by jet they will continue on to Hawaii. We are glad to hear that Carl Perkins is feeling some better and has returned home from the hospital on Monday. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Lyman, Susan Butt and Margaret Jones went to Bay-fiel- d, Colo, and visited Mrs. Eulene Sitton and had lunch with her. Mrs. Sitton and her husband the late George Sitton used to live here and she sent her best wishes to her friends iness matters. here.
