M. , Dec. 23 -- - Possible tragedy was averted by White Sands Missile Range personnel last week when an Indian hospital in southeastern Utah lost all heat and power during sub -- freezing temperatures. The employ cs, members of the range's I. tah Launch Complex at Green River and Bland -ing, were credited with quick and effective action following a call for help from Monument Valley Hospital. They provided a generator and technicians vitally needed to restore power at the facility. The power failure, according 100-kilow- att to Murray Maughan, chief of the Utah operations, occurred about midnight. Officials at the Navajo Reservation, where the hospital is located, contacted the Army's Blanding facility. By 2 p. m. full power and heat was restored. During that period the high est temperature recorded was 17 degrees. Mr. Maughan said the Army generator was trucked from Blanding to Monument Valley, a distance of 75 miles, by Dynalectron Corp. personnel. The firm is under Army contract at both Green River and Blanding. -- License plates go on sale The Monticello Wards put forth their talents and their efforts last Saturday night and presented a sparkling, delightful bit of entertainment during the holiday season with the Gold and Green Ball. The ball was held at the LDS Cultural Hall which was decorated in thre eSh a de stf pink crepe paper covering the entire ceiling. Hanging pink stars completed the decor. The foyer featured a dry tree surrounded with sprayed Russian thisle covered with tiny Christmas lights. The program was narrated by Mr. and Mrs. Clem Wash-buportraying Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. They introduced the dance numbers which were an All Girl dance, a square dance, the Waltz, the swing, m, association to outline objectives for management and operation of hospitals and to provide a uniform framework for the development of hospital charges. .The document includes a practical and uniform system of charging for hospital service, but does not set rates which will differ from hospital to hospital because of varia- tions in service, location and size. Through the use of the principles, it is anticipated that the charges by each hospital will closely reflect the hospital's cost for the different categories of charges listed on the hospital billing statement. The Daily Hospital Service Charge includes the following: room, complete linen services standard meals, therapeutic diets and nourishments, general nursing service, basic medical record maintenance and admitting service. The routine use of hospital equipment and instruments, routine drugs, routine supplies. Separate charges will be made for: individual ly prescribed equipment, supplies, services and treatments. Operating room, delivery rooms, and other special services, personal services such as guest meals and personal purchases. Anyone desiring further information concerning the above can obtain such information from the business office at the hospital. Most of the patients at the time were infants. One baby was delivered by lantern light blackout; during the another was recuperating from pneumonia. The hospital is operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church for the Navajo Indians in the Monument Valley area. The generator is on loan until the hospital's equipment can be replaced. 14-ho- ur Ball is success of the season Hospital applies new rate schedule . - Per Missile personnel avert possible tragedy Moss to ask for . 10 14 PAGES Monticello, San Juan County, Utah 84535 1 Widows and wives now eligible for this benefit will have until Dec. 1, 1967, to complete their training under the new program. In other words, women who become eligible for VA educational assistance due to the service connected death or permanent and total disability of their husbands, will have eight years to complete their training. Eligibility of -- widows and wives does not depend on when their husbands served in the Armed Forces. However, if a widow remarries or a wife divorces her disabled husband she loses entitlement. Mr.. Smith emphasized that it will not be necessary for eligible widows and wives to contact the VA for detailed information on this new program.- - In the near future the VA will mail explanatory material to each a solo number, a reindeer dance, and two dances by the college boys and girls. About. 50 young people participated in the program. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Young, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Jones and Miss Pat Hawkins were the dance directors. The Second Ward wrote the narration for the program and the First Ward was responsible for the decorations. Jack Norris and his famous orchestra furnished the delight-- ( ful music which was greatly enjoyed by the large crowd in attendance.
