ARTIFACT LETTER Commissioner William R. Hurst reported concerning his assignment to look into the problem of artifacts going out of the county. He presented a letter he had written to University of Utah President A. Ray Alpin asking for information. Mr. Alpin stated In his reply that fie, too, was concerned with the problem and promised a full investigation and reply after the first of the year. Under state law, anyone desiring a permit to seek artifacts within a county must get permission from the county commission and state and to turn a portion of find-ing- s to the county. No expeditions to the area have yet sought such a permit from the county nor has the county received any artifacts found by such expeditions. AMBULANCES decided commission The that the ambulances within the county should be under either the sheriffs or hospitals department and Chairman Ken Summers was authorized to contact both departments to see if such an arrangement can be worked out.
