Germany, Oct. 14 iPi Reports from New York that the dirigible Graf Zeppelin has been sold to a Spanish company were denied today by Director General Colsmann of the Zeppelin corporation. He declared that the consent of the German government would be necessary before the company could dispose of the Zeppelin, and that, furthermore, the company's own plans, precluded all prospects of a sale to a foreign power at this time. "The Graf Zeppelin will remain in German possession for the time being, as we are determined to explore the commercial possibilities of this ' oirigible, Colsmann said. Dr. K. ki nc r Plans Transocean Service. At some future time, he added, the dirigible might be chartered for commercial exploitation, but the title S would romain with the German company. While there is no objection to the eventual sale to Spain, that, he declared, would happen only if such transfer would yield the necessary means for further developing ,the d witli the" Zeppelin company's building program. It is also known that one of the pet plans of Dr. Hugo Eckener, who had charge of Iter construction, is to inaugurate a semimonthly mail and passenger service between Germany nnd the United States, which he hopes to develop into a profitable enterprise, at least sufficiently to realize revenues which would enable him to ''write off" the cost of the Graf Zeppelin The present dirigible also is viewed in the popular mind as the property of the German people, who contribd uted at least of the cost of Its production through public subscriptions, circumstances which offer obstacles to its sale at this time. I ox Brothers Report Sale to Company in Spain. Fox Brothers International corporation issued a statement last night that the Colon Trausaerea company of Spain had purchased the Graf Zeppelin for about $1,200,000. The corioration stated it had con tracts with the Spanish company to build airports, at Seville. Spain, and Beunos Aires. Argentina. A representative of the Goodyear-Zrppeli- n corporation of Akron. Ohio, said that he knew negotiations had taken place with the Spanish concern looking toward the sale of the Zeppelin, but that he had no information the deal had been completed.
