Show 16 Spring Sports Guide March 2004 Dinos return as sanctioned team After receiving sanction from the school board in the fall, Carbons boys soccer team returns to the field with better funding and more players. In past seasons, the players have had to pay a large fee to play on the team, which went toward paying officials, travel and uniforms. Other expenses were usually incurred during the season, too. The school is helping to lighten the load, however, and the results have been manifest in the record number of athletes participating this year. Twenty players are new to the team this season, along with 16 returning players. In his second year as head coach, Timothy Palmer projects the team will have the best year the school has ever had. Carbon is strong in ball control and has an experienced defense. The Dinos will be looking to improve team speed, however, before the end of the season. Lehi, which is currently ranked third in the state in 3A soccer, will be the region team to beat. But, Palmer projects that the Dinos will be near the top when the regular season is over and be positioned well for the tournament.
