Try some of these ideas: Invite friends over for coffee and coffee cake after church on Sunday to give you a chance to visit for an hour or so. You can have coffee cake already baked and coffee in thermos bottles to make it simple. Have a pot luck dinner. You furnish the main course while guests bring dessert or salad and rolls. Helen's Favorite: DIET DRESSING (Makes 1 cup) cup ripe olives, cut cup water 2 tablespoons cornstarch 2 tablespoons wine vinegar Vt teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon sugar 2 tablespoons salad oil 1 teaspoon prepared mustard 3 tablespoons chill sauce Blend water and cornstarch; cook until clear and slightly thickened. Cool and add all remaining ingredients, mixing well. Chill. This gives 44 calories for a two tablespoon portion. It's easy to get together for a game of bridge or conversation if the only refreshments are dips and chips, nibbling while you visit. Prepare a large casserole and salad in advance to a large buffet type party. This eases serving -and frees you for making the beverage and visiting. Have an electric skillet? This gives you access to serving chafing chaf-ing dish types foods for buffet or easy dinners.. These can be prepared pre-pared in advance, then just heated when time arrives.
