Show Emery County Progress Tuesday, August 18, 1987 5A ' G!Sir Farm Bureau finds local talent By ELIZABETH HANSON Staff writer Farm Bureau President Rex Bunderson and commissioner Clyde Thompson handed out ribbons, plaques and $500 in checks to winners placing in the junior, intermediate, senior and open divisions of the Farm Bureau Talent Find held in conjunction with the county fair. First place winners were awarded $50, second place, $40, and third place, $30. There were 33 entries divided into 13 piano solos, eight clogging, nine vocal, one jazz band and one reading. Six exhibition numbers swelled the length of the program to well over three hours. Judges were Paulette Keller of Salina and Katie Johanson, Aurora, and USU student. Rating first place in the junior Jennifer division was and of John Eden, daughter Arlene Eden of Cleveland. She played Buzzing Bee by Mark Nevin with polish and finesse. Her mother is her teacher. Second was Amber Saupan in a snappy clog, and third were Monica Beth Cox and Brady Stevenson in a gymnastics routine. Shannon Beard, another top pianist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Beard, took first place in the intermediate for her descriptive about a cat and number pianist a mouse. Margaret Jorgensen, daughter of Roy and Carolyn Jorgensen, was second with a The Juggler. piano solo, Adrianne and Ryan Burke rated third with a clogging routine. In the senior division, Karla Seely, daughter of Montell and Kathryn Seely, scored a direct hit with her song If My Friends Could See Me Now, from the Broadway hit Sweet Charity. The council also discussed obtaining a portable public address system to be used at various city functions.
