Mrs. Barbara Barben waa released from the presidency and Mra. Eva-liv- ia Burton waa auatained to take her place, to be assisted by first counselor to the president, Mrs. Emma Merlin, with Mrs. Lena Wag-sta- ff remaining as second counselor. New primary teachers are Blanch Jones, Alta Sorensen and Ramona Burton. The Trekkert and Guilds atten-ded a movie film on the Hag of our country along with other wards in the stake on Tuesday, Feb. 20. (Continued on oaie three) basketball game which ended with score of 27-2- 4. This game which was played Saturday, March 3rd, tied the two teams for first place. Each team has now lost one game and a play-of- f game will determine the champions. This game will be played this Saturday, March 10, at the West Jordan Stake House at J:00 p.m. M. A. Wixom, who recently un-derwent surgery at St. Mark's Hos-pital, came home Sunday from the hospital and ia reported getting nicely. Dinner guests Sunday at home of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Wixom and family were Mrs. Josephine Bate-ma-and Mrs. Effie Wixom of West Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bateman of Holladay. Austin Butterworth is home from St. Mark's Hospital recuperating from surgery. Sam Adondakis is in Holy Cross Hospital lor treatment of his back. Mr. and Mrs. Mark L. Money and four children, Nolan, Cynthia, David end Bruce have arrived, from San Marino, Calif., to make their new home in Salt Lake City. They are staying temporarily at the home of Mr. and Mra. Royal Spratling, parents of Mrs. Money, until they find a place. West Jordan Fourth Ward Relief Society is holding their regular work day next Tuesday, March 14, starting at 10:30 a.m. There will also be a program followed by a luncheon to celebrate the annivers-ary of the founding of the Relief Society. All ladies of the ward are invited. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowen and Mrs. Barbara Wheatley spent last Sunday at Evanston, Wyo. Monday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hettrick Sr. were rkeir man and family. Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. James Malkos, Mrs. Ceorgo Makris, Mrs. Cus Bolaris, Mrs. Sam Kastanis, Mrs. Rose Kouris, Mrs. Frun Haun and Mrs. Sally Wood attended a fashion show and lun-cheon at the Union Building on the University of Utah campus given by the Creek Orthodox Ladies So-ciety last Saturday afternoon, March 3rd. All parents of students at West Jordan Jr. High were invited to attend the Junior High Science Fair held at the school in West Jordan Thursday night (last night), at 7:30 p.m. There was also an hour program in the school auditorium consisting of a concert and elections following which parents went to the gym to see the display of models, charts and demonstra-tions prepared by students in the science 'department. Babies recently blessed in West Jordan Third Ward were Maile Kaye Lane, daughter of Willie and Kaye Horrocks Lane; and Jamie C. Allen, son of William C. and Loa Graham Allen. David Arnold Shaw was recently baptized and confirmed in the West Jordan Third Ward. Recent ordinations in West Jor-dan Third Ward were Richard C. Brown to the office of elder and Wilford D. Richards to the office of a high priest. On Tuesday, March 6, the West Jordan Third Ward Relief Society visiting teachers meeting lesson had as its objective "To Show Pow-er and Blessings of Faith" after which regular Relief Society was held at which the lesson was "En-dure Unto the- - End". Both lessons were well given and heartily ac-cepted by all attending. Women in the ward are invited to come to Relief Society and renew and make new acquaintances and participate in their activities. Next Tuesday, March 1 3, there will be a birthday party to commemorate the organi-zation of the Relief Society which was founded March 17, 1842, 120 years ago by the Prophet Joseph Smith. Regular work activities are planned from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A special birthday luncheon will be served at 12:30 and a short program presented at this time. Sunday, March I I, will be a wel-come home for Cayle Gardner who recently returned from an LDS mission for West Jordan 1st- - ward. Clyde Hettrick Jr. and son, Clyde III, of Salt Lake City. The elder Hettricks visited at the home of the younger Hettricks Wednesday evening. Cards were enjoyed and lovely refreshments served by the hostess. A delightful evening was enjoyed by all. Monday night Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wells and Mr. and Mrs. William Rager enjoyed a show and after-wards refreshments at Snelgrove's in Salt Lake City in celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Wells' wedding an-niversary. Paul Rose, Terry Ewell and Mi-chael Mattox graduate from Pri-mary and enter scouting at West Jordan Second Ward this Sunday. Julene Burton recently broke her lef while skiing at one of the local ski resorts. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Burton. Mrs. Ceorge Adondakis, Mrs. Mike Zervos, Mrs. Nick Macris, Mrs. James Varanakis and Klea, WEST JORDAN Claudia Butterfield AM Marlene Webb AM West Jordan 4th Ward's monthly ward supper will be held on March 19. It is being " sponsored by the Deacons and Teachers Quorums. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Jones are enjoying sightseeing and visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Rost Butterfield and family were guests of Mrs. Jane Butterfield Sunday for a lovely din-ner. After dinner other family mem bers came and all enjoyed fine evening. The West Jordan Wards' bishop-rics were well .represented at the seminary dance held at the Old Mill last Saturday night, March 3. Those attending were Bishop and Mrs. John Price, Bishop and Mrs. Dale Bateman, Bishop and Mrs. Paul Steinfeldt, Mr. and Mrs. George Brockbank and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Butterfield who are counselors in West Jordan Fourth Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dimond are proud parents of a fine new baby boy born Irflt week. Miss Florence Malmstrom is" en-joying being back in West Jordan after serving an LDS mission to Sweden for two years. Misses Elaine and Barbara Know-Ito- n from Grantsville visited with Claudia .and. Connie Butterfield Saturday, March 3. West Jordan Second Ward held their Kitchen Carnival Tuesday, March 6. Everyone had a fun time eating. Mrs. Dean Webb took her Sun-day School class roller skating Tuesday evening, March 6. Every-one had an enjoyable time and after skating all were treated to ice cream cake and root beer at the home of Mrs. Webb. Mr. and Mrs. George Brockbank and Mrs. Russell Coster assisted Mrs. Webb.
