I On Nov. 7, Parent, Teacher Conference Day will be held at the high school. School will be adjourned that day for the Nov. w ant to On Nov. 10, watchout guys! Two correctional officers and one inmate from the state prison have been invited to speak to the students about how a prison functions and the life of an Inmate, On Nov. the State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Conference will be held. SRJH band plans two concerts Utah State School Board Convention to be held in Salt Lake City on Jan. 10, 1985, where they are to play before the state school board as well as board The San Rafael Junior High band recently received two prestigious invitations to perform outside the area, according to director Tim Farr. The band has been invited to attend the Biennial Convention of the Western Division of the Music Eductors members from 21-2- 4, states in-sta- te Mr. Farr said that invitation came following submission of a band resume and performance tape. He said that the San Rafael band is the only band from Utah attending the convention which will also include two other junior high bands, one high school band, and four college bands. the by Music Educators Association to be held in Fresno, 1985. Organizing the election at Emery County High School was history teacher Neal Peacock who said that students voted on FIRST FEDERAL SAVINGS practice. At Emery High, the ballots were given to students in a government class which chose Reagan (28) over Mondale (3) and Dennis (1). Bangerter received 17 votes compared to Owens 14. Statewide, Reagan received 14,058 votes while Mondale carried just 2,383. Throughout the nation among high school voters, Reagan Mondale outpolled 979,489 to 668,834. When asked on the ballot if the voter would favor continued build up of nuclear strength as the best means to keep peace, nine at Emery voted yes while 16 voted no. Statewide, the figures show that 9,354 favor buildup while 8,482 oppose it. This is contrary to national figures which show 265,790 the buildup whil favor it. In response to a questio: asking the voters if they wouli favor an increase in taxes t reduce the federal defici provided there were equa amounts of spending cuts in al areas, nine from Emery votec in favor while 16 were opposed Statewide, the tabulation shows that 12,686 oppose the idea while 4,593 are in favor, and nationally 296,313 oppose while 158,843 are in favor. The final question asked students if they would favor increasing federal aid to eduction if it meant reducing defense spending and spending for social needs, and Emery 2 students voted in favor while the vote was 8,961 to 7,930 in favor statewide.
