Show By LINDA NORRIS ()NE of the most hilarious al-w al-w bums to be waxed in years is Warner Bros, great "My Son, the Folk Singer," written and performed per-formed by Allan Sherman, a bright new name on the recording scene with some of the funniest lyrics to old favorites ever heard . . . This is a must for private consumption and for livening up parties ... It will surely be the conversation piece of the year . . . Sherman does satirical takeoffs with notable nota-ble results, viz, "Shake Hands With Your Uncle Max" (which goes from Irish to Yiddish in one easy handshake) . . . This is a must. Going from someone new to someone old, Bing Crosby's latest lat-est album for Warners'. "On the Happy Side," just goes to prove that 30 years in the limelight has done nothing but work wonders for the ever-popular crooner . . . Bing sounds as good as ever through some nostalgic numbers such as "Singin" in the Rain," "A-Tisket, A-Tasket," "My Little Grass Shack," "Should I?", "Blue Moon," "Cecelia," "Don't Sit Under Un-der the Apple Tree," "My Pony Boy," "Gimme a Little Kiss" and many, many other of those great "remember-when" oldies. And for those who swing young, Warner Bros, presents pert Joanie Sommers in a frothy album entitled en-titled "Let's Talk About Love" . . . Joanie does some nice vocal work on such hits as "Till There Was You," "Namely You," "Kiss and Run," "Spring Is Here," "I'm Nobody's Baby." "Make the Man Love Me," "I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me" and the title song, "Let's Talk About Love." |
