Talks were given by Junius Burton, Richard Brown, Wayne Batsman, Richard Wagstaff and Doug Bateman. Danny Rager, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rager, was honored with a family get-together at his home on Tuesday, Dec. Ilth in celebration of his seventh birthday. Helping him celebrate the occasion occas-ion were his parents, brother Kenny Ken-ny and sisters, Rochelle and Rea-non, Rea-non, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Cheever, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rager of Lark and Mr. and Mrs. Clare Rager and children, Gary and Karen, Kar-en, of Sandy. Birthday cake and ice cream were enjoyed. West Jordan Third Ward MIA I I S v ST -mm J . 11 V ?- --vr? y 1 held a real fun-filled Christmas party Tuesday evening, Dec. 18th, The party marked the beginning of a Christmas vacation which will lest from Dec. 19 to Jan. 7. Babies recently blessed in West Jordan Third Ward fast meeting are: Vance Gordon Smith, son of Cordon and Ruth Brown Smith; Kathy Sue Chartier, daughter of Duane and Glenna Chartier; Johnny John-ny Deon Hyatt, son of Leon and Vivian Hyatt; Geraldina Turpin, daughter of Reed and Beverly Turpin; Tur-pin; LeAnn Sylvester, daughter of William and Nancy Sylvester; Rebecca Re-becca Jo Brimhall, daughter of Ir-vin Ir-vin and JoAnn Brimhall, and Mary Dawn Campbell, daughter of Aldon and Carol Campbell. A very fine girls basketball team is organized in West Jordan Third Ward MIA. The girls practice each Monday evening from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 3:30 to 4.30 p.m. The big league games begin in January. , Twenty-six girls from West Jordan Jor-dan Third Ward received individual individ-ual awards for achievements in the ward's girls programs. Among them were three girls who won 100 oer cent award pins for perfect attendance at sacrament meeting, Sunday School and MIA. The girls are Dellene Steadman, Mary Wag-staff Wag-staff and Claudia McDougal. Sharon Shar-on Carroll also received one for last year that was held up in error. Recently baptized and confirmed in West Jordan Third Ward were: Benjamin Franklin Farrer, son of Louis and Grace Farrer; Scott Kenneth Ken-neth Cook, son of Kenneth and Bev-erl Bev-erl yCook, and Nancy Carol Campbell, Camp-bell, daughter of Aldon and Carol Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Williams became be-came the proud grandparents of their thirty-first grandchild Tuesday, Tues-day, Dec. 18. The grandson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lloyd of Riverton. Mra. Lloyd is the former for-mer Joan Williams. A wedding shower was held last Friday night at the home of Mrs. William Wood in honor of her daughter, dau-ghter, Mrs. Marion Lewis. Twenty-five Twenty-five relatives and -friends attended the party and enjoyed games and refreshments. Marion was married Nov. 2 1 to Daniel Lewis. They are making their home in Holladay. The West -Ben Bowling League, under direction of its president, Lee Dimond, held a Christmas pany at the old Bennion Ward Chapel last Saturday night following their bowling. Eating, games and the exchange ex-change of gifts were the evening's entertainment. West Jordan couples belonging to the club are: Max and Margie Wood, Lee and Leola Dimond, Di-mond, Berreit and lyla Jean Stead-man, Stead-man, Jerry and Arlene Andus, Ned and LaRae Cundick, Bill and Beth Booth, Ray and Jewel Steadman, Eldon and Norene Steadman and Gary and Dixie Mitchell. Other couples who complete the league are from Bennion. They bowl every Saturday night at the Kearns lanes. West Jordan Fourth Ward held a Christmas party for all members of (he ward Wednesday night. The MIA was in charge. A program consisting of a number from the Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School and MIA was presented. A floor show was given fey the Scouts and Beehive girls and the Explorers Explor-ers and MiaMaida. West Jordan Third Ward Relief Society held its literature meeting Tuesday. The lesson was about the home and family life Author Louisa Mae Alcot. All women in the ward are especially invited to attend these inspiring meetings. West Jordan Stake held a stake preparation meeting at West Jordan Jor-dan Stake House last Sunday, Doc. I 6, for teachers and officers in the Sunday Schools. A very good program pro-gram was presented which was as follows: devotional music, Rieka Smith; hymn "O Come All Ye Faith ful", congregation; conductor, Supt Alma Holt; invocation, David Schmidt; roll call, Norma Steadman; Stead-man; sacrament gems, Blanche White; concert recitations Dale Wheadon of South Jordan Ward, Louis Bigler 111 from West Jordan First Ward, and the teacher improvement im-provement lesson was given by Jerry Johnson. Dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bateman and family were Mr. and Mrs. Kent Bateman and Miss Vicky Gardiner. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Nerdin had as dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williamson of Provo. Mrs. Robert Crellin and Mrs. James Crellin of Copperton visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Dimond last Saturday afternoon. Mrs. LaRoyce Fisher of South Jordan is the new activity counselor coun-selor in the West Jordan Stake MIA replacing Mrs. JoAnn Rose, it is announced. Tuesday evening West Jordan First Ward MIA went Christmas ! carolling and afterwards enjoyed a i chili supper at Marv's gym. Christmas programs will be held at West Jordan Second Ward this Sunday. The Sunday School's program pro-gram is at 9:45 a.m. and the choir will present special Christmas numbers num-bers in sacrament meeting at 5:45. Mr. and Mrs. James G. Dahl of Salt Lake City, formerly of West tordan, are proud parents of a new aby boy born on Dec. II. The baby has been named Scott Stewart Stew-art for his great-great grandfather, Scott Stewart who will perform the ordinance. On hand to welcome the new arrival was his sister, Debbie, Deb-bie, and grandmother, Mrs. Lawrence Lawr-ence Dahl of Boise, Idaho, formerly former-ly of West Jordan. The Dutch Choir from Salt Lake City presented the ' program in sacrament meeting in West Jordan Fourth Ward last Sunday evening. They sang songs in the Dutch language lan-guage as well as American and also had speakers for the program. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Beers have a new baby girl. Two brothers await her arrival home. Proud grandparents grandpar-ents of their first granddaughter are Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Beers. Alva Steadman returned home from the hospital last Sunday afternoon af-ternoon after undergoing a hernia operation. He is reported to be recovering re-covering nicely. Claudia Butterfield was a guest at the home of John Johnson of Copperton last Sunday for dinner. Mr. and Mrs. J.' W. Johnson planned plan-ned a special day for the roommates room-mates of their daughter, Bobbie Lee, from the BYU. Guests were Suzanne Horton and Marianne Fames of Idaho, Linda Henion and Kathy Leighton of California, Su-sanne Su-sanne Pedon of Arizona, Claudia Butterfield and Mrs. Jennie Erick-son. Erick-son. Before dinner, the group drove to Bingham Canyon and viewed the copper pit. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Dimond entertained en-tertained last Saturday night at their home at a lovely birthday dinner honoring their son, Harold's, Har-old's, birthday anniversary. Others present were Beth Dimond, Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Miller and children of Herriman, and Mr. and Mrs. Brent Dimond. West Jordan Second Ward Mutual Mu-tual went Christmas caroling to shut in members of the ward last night, Thursday. Adult members of West Jordan Jor-dan First Ward are holding their Christmas party Friday evening, (tonight) at 7 p.m. It will include a dinner and it is being sponsored by the Relief Society. Mrs. Hershel Green attended the funeral of her sister, Mrs. Clifford Hansen at Ely, Nev., last Saturday. A family get-together was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam Rager Monday evening in honor of their son, Kenny's sixth birthday. Others present were his brother and sisters, Danny, Rochelle Roch-elle and Reanon, Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Cheever, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rager and Mr. and Mrs. Clare Rager and children, Gary and Karen. Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Dimond and son, Dick, from Cokeville, Wyo. spent a day last week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrrs. Albert P. Dimond. Richard James, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay B. James, was a member of the Bingham High School aca-pella aca-pella choir which furnished the program at Midvale Third Ward last Sunday afternoon. West Jordan Second Ward held their ward Christmas party for all members of the ward Tuesday evening. ev-ening. The program consisted of a film "Santa Workshop," various numbers by members of the ward, and a short skit '."Papa Reads A Christmas Carol". Earl Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Goodrldge enjoyed dinner din-ner at Clark' Cafeteria and afterwards after-wards went to see the Edgar Bergen Ber-gen show at Granite High School. No West Jordan Third Ward Relief Re-lief Society will be held the next two weeks because of the holidays. The next regular Relief Society meeting will be on Jan. 8 which will be the visiting teacher message mes-sage followed by the theology lesson. les-son. Mrs. T. Earl Kelly and Mrs. Kennedy Ken-nedy Thornton of Kearns attended the Polymistura Club's annual Christmas party Tuesday evening at the Salt Lake Country Club. West Jordan T hird Ward is holding hold-ing a special Christmas program at Sunday School and also at the evening service this Sunday. Miss Charlotte Carroll is expected expect-ed to arrive home this week end from Dixie College at St. George to spend Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Carroll and family. Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Granquist were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Sorenson of Sandy Monday Mon-day evening. The occasion celebrated cele-brated the wedding anniversaries of both couples. West Jordan Second Ward Relief Re-lief Society held a very lovely Christmas luncheon and program Tuesday, Dec. I 8,- with Santa Claus as special visitor. Fifty cent gifts were exchanged and an enjoyable time was had by all. Mr. and Mrs. T. Earl Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Mattson were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy Thornton of Kearns last Friday evening.
