That was also the sentiments of the audiences in attendance at the Duo concert Saturday night Nov. 14 at Emery Jensen-Woodbur- y High School. gains water Mr. Jensen and Mr. Woodbury grant pleased with the reception to their concert. The Duo has been chosen to be part of the Western States Arts Foundation tour for the 1982-8season. WESTAF sponsors and promotes all types of companies in 10 of the western states and exposure of the duo should be much greater in the coming years. The duo is one of only five Utah companies to be selected this year, and also one of the smallest and most portable. Lee G. Humphrey, Chairman of the Emery County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, ASCS, said, Ballots will be mailed next Monday, Nov. 23 to all farmers on record. Emery County farmers have the opportunity to vote for one candidate whom they feel will best serve the interests of agriculture for Emery county. The candidates are: Fred Gene Dunham, Green River, who operates farms along the Green River. Dunham pumps water from the river to raise alfalfa, corn, and pasture. These crops are fed in a feed lot to his animals. His cattle graze on the desert on BLM and State ground most of the year. The majority of his help comes from his family. of the Mr. Dunham has been Utah Cattlemans Assocation. He has also served nine years on the ASCS committee in prior years. James M. Staker lives north of Elmo on his farm where he and his wife, Sally, grow alfalfa, corn and pasture to feed their cows, sheep, and pigs. Their cattle graze on irrigated pasture in the summer and BLM during the winter. Mr. Staker has worked for North Emery Water Users Association as manager and has been a board member for the Cleveland Canal. He is presently a member of the county weed board. Farnum Young resides in Ferron and farms land south of town. Mr. Young has cattle and pigs. Besides his pasture, he grows alfalfa and corn for his stock. His cattle are on the farm year round, grazing in the pastures during the summer and being fed alfalfa in the winter. Mr. Young has farmed in Hanksville, been a scoutmaster and leader. He has taught school for many years and is presently teaching at the Ferron Elementary. One of the above candidates will be elected to a three year term to work with the present committeemen, Lee G, Humphrey and Mervin Duncan. The other two candidates will then serve as alternates. Some of the duties involved are: selecting conservation projects to cost share between the federal government and a farmer or group of farmers; establishing grain yield, approve applications for disaster on farm crops, approving livestock feed applications in time of drought and working with the Soil Conservation Districts to better agriculture in the county and state. vice-preside- nt An additional water supply was provided to Clawson by provisions of a 1978 Community Impact Board grant for construction of the Treatment Ferron Plant. Earlier in the day the Duo conducted a workshop at the high school. It consisted of a lecture and demonstrations for those who already played the guitar and wanted to learn more about its technique and literature.
