A 25t packet of flower or vegetable seed could do a lot to ease this nervousness and tensenss. Roses date back into antiquity. Rose fossils found in rock formations in Colorado and Oregon date back some 40 million years. The rose apparently originated in central Asia and spread over the northern hemisphere. Inexplicably, it never crossed the equator no wild rose species have ever been found in the southern hemisphere. Strange thing about the blooms of truly wild roses they dont look like roses at all, but more like apple or strawberry blossoms. That is really not so strange, as both the apple and strawberry, as well as the peach, apricot and almond, are all members of the very large rose family. Centuries of cross breeding have transformed the roses of antiquity into a vast assembly of modern rcses. At present there are more than 13,000 identifiable varieties, with more than 10,000 officially registered. Of this number, only a handful, however, perhaps 200 or 250 are grown commercially. The techniques of hybridization through scientific procedures, aided by greatly improved knowledge of plant genetics, have enabled the breeders to produce a tremendous array of colors, shapes and forms in roses. d of hole with water! and allow it all to soak In, then s. refill.
