CARD OF THANKS There are people that touch the hearts of our souls and we would like to name a few here in Moab that touched the life of Lorraine Davis Vigil and made her life, for the last several years more pleasant. Donna Gerber, Bishop Ron and Pat Ferguson, Danette Groesbeck, Allen Memorial Hospital staff Supermarket pioneer, and Moab native, Ralph J. Miller, died Ralph Joaquin Miller, Jr. was born on December 11, 1926, to Ralph J. and Genevieve Miller. He died on November 18, 2002. He graduated from Grand County High School and was drafted into the army shortly thereafter where he served as a Military Policeman in WWII. He married Shirley Dillard in 1944. After being discharged from the army, he went into business with his father in the Millers Moab Cooperative. After his fathers retirement in 1960, he partnered with Brig Larsen to form Millers Supermarket. In 1978 they sold the grocery store and kept only the hardware piece of the business, which they sold to their nephew, Kevin Johnson, in 1993. Ralph was involved in many organizations throughout his life. Some of those include the Moab Volunteer Fire Department, the Elks Club, the Moab Chamber of Commerce, the American Legion, the Rotary Club, and he was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of El Kalah Shrine Club. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Utah Retail Grocers and was president of this organization in 1970. His interests included fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the track, football, and basketball teams in high school. Ralph had a strong sense of service to others and lived his life working through service organizations and helping one on one. He was known within the family ranks as the problem solver, always putting others before himself. He never knew the meaning of cant or quit. His positive, upbeat sense of humor and making life a good time was infectious and saw each one through the hard times. They all knew they could count on him for anything. Friends and families lives were enriched because of his sincere love and belief in people. The community as well as the family will greatly feel the loss. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Miller; three daughters Candace (Red) Stewart of Las Vegas, Nev., Claudia (Terry) Page of Moab, and Karen (Chad) Frazer of Salt Lake City, Utah; his mother, Genevieve Miller; two sisters Betty Johnson and Carolyn (Ray) Tibbetts; and brother-in-la- and Steven Dr. Rouzer and staff, Stake President Doug Cannon, Social Services, Betty and B.
