And for most, that means they eventually become dependent on the help of others, even for the simplest daily tasks. When the elderly need such help, often the responsibility for making the key decisions about such help falls to their children. The old roles are reversed now the children are taking care of the parents. Today, those children have several options available in choosing the best way of caring for their parents. Deciding which is the - right choice deserves careful thought and planning. One option is for the child or children to move into the parent(s) home to take care of them. This can be a good choice in some situations, especially if the adult child is without a home or strong social life. A second option is to have the parent(s) move in with the adult now-adu- lt child. This can work well, especially if the home includes a larger family to help share the responsibility for taking care of the eld- erly parent(s). Sometimes, due to the demands of work or other lifestyle issues, neither of those options is possible. In such cases, hiring a professional to g take on the majority of the may make the most sense. For those who can afford this, having a nurse or stay with the parent in their home can be a good solution. But such care can be expensive, especially if it is required fill! time, as it often is. A fourth option, often less expensive than hiring a nurse, is to have the parent move into a facility designed around their needs In many communities there is a wide care-givin- care-giv- er variety of choices of such facilities. They generally fall into one of two categories: assisted living centers or extended care centers. Montezuma and Dolpres counties lead Colorado in unemployment, and that is without counting the people who dont receive unemployment and the people who work e part time because there are no jobs available. The two counties historically have fewer jobs to offer than other areas. Representatives of the Southwest Work Force Center suggest the reason major industries dont set up businesses in the area may be due to the lack of mr jor transportation such as a railroad line.
