By ALEXANDER DANA NOYES. NEW YORK, June 29. Except for an advance in the price of wheat and cotton, largely due in each case to Ideas of what the government crop reports of next Monday end the Monday following will show, there was great irregularity In today's markets. Even In foreign exchange, while sterling recovered 1 cents, followed by most of the continental exchanges, the German mark went well below its previous lowest rate. The quotation was 26 one hundredths of a oent. On the stock exchange, the movement of prices was extremely confused, moet of the railway shares advancing while the "oil shares declined, with and advances fairly balanced in other industrial Mocks. On the bond market, too, fractional gains and fractional losses occurred simultaneously in securities of equal standing. The daye strength in the railway stocks evidently reflected the fairly unanimous consensus of publicly expressed Judgment, either that the threatened strike win be averted or that, if it is actually called. It will quickly turn out to be ineffective. On tlto whole, the drift of opinion today vjrafc aramet the probability of any eirlke at all. a belief which got some logical encouragement from the formal summoning of the union leaders to appear before the labor board This course was adopted when the trainmen were threatening to strike against the board's decision of a vear ago. it resisted in giving dear evidence, to the SUGAR MARKET. NEW YORK, June 29 The raw sugar market was unchanged on the spot with Culm coat and freight, equat to 4 73c quoted at for centrifugal, although July shipment was a shade lower at 8 8 16c coat and freight, equal to 4 79c for centrifugal There were sale of 6000 bags of Cuba afloat and 5000 baga for July shipment. The raw sugar futures market waa les ac ttve today and. while prires were higher, they were somewhat Irregular. Early covering and scattered trade buying caused an advance of ft to 7 points on active position, but realising brought a partial reaction with final price 2 to 4 point net higher. Among the first organisation to start exploration In the east side of the Park City district will be th park Standard Mining company, which owns an estate of about 300 acres. Development work will be directed by Newton A. Dunyon, uperintendent of the Ontario mine and for years an earnest student of the In trlcacles of the Park City ore deposits. Ten claims of the Park Standard hold Inge are eald to be traversed by the fa mous Park City formation which up to date has produced approximately 1200, 000,000; the remainder of the estate con slats of 120 acres of school land situated In the quartette. The company's ground Is cut by number of that series of east-weveins from four to five mile wide, which Is oonsldrred by Mr. Dunyon and other Park City operator to be the chief min erallsed fissures of th district. While not situated on the same fissure as that which Is proving so productive In the Park-t-tath Park Standard Is cut, Mr. Dunyon contends, by several mem bers of the same vein system. Of the several major series of flasurea, north running respectively north-soutt, and the latter syetem has up to date proved the most productive. The Ontario fissure, productive of 150,000.000 In the Ontario mine the Crescent, th OBrien, the M. L. M. end others which have produced tens of millions of dollars In the Silver King Coalition and other mines, and more recently, the park-lta- h vein, which promises to be as productive as the Ontario, all,' according to Mr. Dunyon, belong to the great east-wefissure system. As a matter of fact, o true to form doe the enrichment of this eerie of veins run, that mining men of Park Cltv hold It to ba a foregone conclusion that productive deposits can be found wherever one of this east-wesystem cut the true Park City formation. Part of th property of the Park-I'ta- h Is made up of the old East Valeo estate, upon which some work has been done. Blnce this exploration was carried on without the correct conception pf the district' geology, officials of the Park L'tah will begin present work In that section of the estate about 7000 feet east of the old tunnel. As the latter adit was driven at a point In the formation 'where there were no Important fissures, It Is considered valuable so far as pree ent development Is concerned. Trenching will be done first to certain Information concerning thegather forA mation, said Mr. Dunvnn yesterday. tunnel will then be started to crosscut to a major east-wevein. Not much crosscutting wdll he necessary to reach the vein, after which all work will be done In the fissure In th Park City formation. About 600 or 800 feet of work, the company estimates, will be necessary to get Into that limestone hortson In which the Park City ore deposits are generally found. This limestone, according to Mr. Dunyon. Ilea about 160 to 200 feet above the quartette. Th property I conveniently situated about three and a half miles from Park City. The company plans to build a bridge across the Provo river at one. When thla wrork la completed, the trip to the mine can be made by automobile. Living quarter for the men, boarding house, blacksmith shop and compressor building will also be erected. A compressor. gas line, engine and power drills are to be Installed.
