Meyers, while the patrol officer was asleep, pulled off an Oregon boot that strapped him to the officer, slipped off the train and made hisr getaway. With the teachers institute completed and all school buildings repaired and cleaned, Supt1 C. H. Skidmore announces that everything is in readiness for the opening of school. The teachers have all returned from their vacations and are eager to get back to their work. The students have had a several months rest from school and they, too, will begin with enthusiasm and renewed interest in continuing their courses plong educational lines. Parents have been very busy this week getting their children ready for school. Usually, at this time of the year, many of the students are tied up in doing their bit in harvesting the peach crop. Conditions are different this year by reason of the almost total loss of the local peach crop, a partial loss of the tomato and crops, hfence more of the children are ready to begin their scholastic work at the opening of school. The attendance Monday at all of the county schools should be unusually large. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Regular services next Sunday, Sept. 7th at the Presbyterian church as follows: Sunday school at 10:30 a. m. preaching . at 11:16 a. m. Topic: Resting Places for the Soul. On Wednesday morning Meyers was recaptured near Oxford, Idaho by Sheriff Head of Preston and Sheriff Eames of Logan. The escape was made in Utah and the recapture effected in Idaho. The officers, however, did not stop to fuss over this incident but loaded the, prisoner into an automobile and before he had time to raise any objections about being taken into another state, brought him to Brigham City and delivered him to Sheriff Zundel. Meyers denied his identity, but the local sheriff had his picture, and after taking his finger prints he realized where he was at and admitted his identity. Through the close cooperation of the officers, quick justice was meted out to this outlaw before he had time to get away and probably pursue his criminal profession in other parts of the country. Splendid cooperation was also shown by nightwatchmen Eph Dunn and Esdras Sackett on Wednesday night, when they arrested two alleged oil thieves here at the request of the marshal of Tremonton.
