He was born Aug. 3, 1965 in Peru, Indiana, the son of Walter M. and Phyllis (Garver) Miller. He was raised in Layton, Moab and Orem, Utah. He graduated from Grand County High School. Moab, and served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and the Reserves for 4 years. He received a degree in nursing from Utah State and Weber State, in Utah. The family moved to Klamath Falls in 1999, and was employed at Merle West Medical Center in Klamath Falls, Or., and worked in the telemetry, orthopedic and intensive care units. Survivors include his wife, Karla (Bailey), seven children Lindon, UT. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lavonne Miller. Mark was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Saints and held many callings. He served 15 years as a Cub Scout den leader and cub -day master. His hobbies were building and flying model airplanes, rockets and remote control cars with his sons. He played electric and acoustic guitars. Services were held on May 24, 2005, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints Stake Center, Klamath Falls, OR. Grave dedication and military honors were held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, OR. Bishop Brock Stoner officiated. In lieu of flowers a memorial trust fund was established for the family. The address is, Karla Miller, 2624 Patterson, Klamath Falls, OR, 97603. Carma Lemon died in Colorado Carma Lovell ONeil Lemon passed away on May 30, 2005 in Delta, Colorado at her daughters home after a lingering illness. She was born July 19, 1934 to Alfred LeRoy ONeil and Nettie Lovell Tryon ONeil. She was raised in the Spring Canyon and Price area where her father was a miner. They moved to Moab in the 1950s where she spent most of her life. In 1996 Carma moved to Price for several years. She then moved back to Moab where she lived with her sister Jackie Garcia, helping her raise her grandchildren. Early this year she moved to Delta to be with her daughter Jamie and family. She married Jack Smith in 1954 and had one daughter, Cathy Johnson, who is the Moab Pizza Hut manager. She later married Jim Lemon and they had five children. Three of these children preceded her in death. David LeRoy Lemon, Moab; Terry Leon Lemon, deceased; Jamie (Willis) Olson, Delta, Utah; Lana Lee Lemon, deceased; Luauna Lu Lemon, deceased. She had nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She is survived by two sis- ters, Jackie Garcia and Mary (Clifford) Voss of Moab; one brother Jim ONeil, of Califor- Providing exceptional service at a reasonable rate. WJvIlHTTit-Hr- - nia; and a sister-in-laPeggy (Lee) ONeil of Moab. She was also preceded in death by her brother Alfred Lee ONeil and her parents. Carmas request was to be cremated and buried in Moab where her other family members are. Funeral services were held at the LDS Stake Center on Locust Lane on June 4, 2005. Lucille Alberta Pass Shipler Lucille Alberta Pass Shipler passed away February 14, 2005 in Moab. She was a long-tim- e resident of La Sal. Lucille was bom in Denver, Colorado on September 7, 1918 to Eva and Steve Pass. She married Leslie Edward Shipler on October 20, 1937. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2001. She is survived by their daughters Sherry C. Shipler Youngblood of York Valley, Arizona; Lana Jessel of Lake City, MI. She was preceded in death by her daughter Judy Kay and grandson Eugene Russel Wheelus in April 1961. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Linda Terri (Dan) Webb of La Sal; Cheryl Carrey of AK; Robin (David) Carr of Boulder, MT; Debbie Healey of West Jordan, Utah; and Don (Donna) Youngblood ofYork Valley, AZ. Lucille has 20 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchilden. Lucille worked at several restaurants and motels in Moab and had a small business in the La Sal area. Mary M. Kellogg died May 28 Mary Margaret (Walker) Kellogg passed away at her residence in Moab, Utah on May 28, 2005. She was bom October 17, 1922 in Arnold, Nebraska and grew up on the Walker ranch in the sand hill country of Nebraska and in Cedar Rapids. She married Cedar Rapids native Alvah Paul Kellogg and they lived in Omaha, Nebraska. In her later years, Mary lived in Tempe, Arizona, Hermiston, Oregon, Grand Junction, Colorado and Moab. She is survived by her son Donald Kellogg, three grand- children and eight greatgrandchildren. She has gone to be with the Lord and will be missed by all her loved ones. George Jefferson Putty died on Sunday, June 5, in Moab. He was born October 27, 1923 to Thomas J. Putty and Willie Jane Hasting in Cisco, Texas. He had six brothers: Charlie, Tommy, John, Jim, Grover, and Ed; and two sisters: Mardell and Ethol. When he was 12 years old, his mother died of pneumonia and three years later, his father also died of pneumonia. They are both buried in Pleasant with his many loyal friends at the office (Outlaw Saloon) everyday. George was a member of the VFW and proud of his military service record. George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ethel, all of his brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren. He is survived by his (David) Zuefeldt, of Ft. Worth, TX; Wanda (Fletcher) Kerby of Moab; Lynda (Ted) Sorensen, of Pine Top, AZ, and eight Hill, Texas. He started boxing at the age of 13 and won the Silver Glove Trophy in Odessa, Texas. He also played football in high school and was a faithful Dallas Cowboy fan for years. George joined the Navy in 1942 and served for six years during WWII and two more years during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he boxed grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to wonderful many caregivers during his long struggle against cancer. the . Area naturalist Reed Lance passed away at age 77 Reed B. Lance, 77 years old, of Monticello, Utah, died June 2, 2005 at the Valley Inn as a Fly Weight and later Colo., after a long battle with Parkinsons disease. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Norma Gay Borreson Lance, and their children Reeda (Jim) Coleman of Cortez, Colorado; Craig (Leslie) Lance of Chugiak, Alaska; and Nanette (Guy) Favatella of Los Angeles, California; his brother Marlin Lance; sisters Carma Barlow; Loma Lindsey; and Verla Walker. He has six grandchildren and one great grandchild, Reed was bom in October 15,1928 in Ogden, Utah to Jay Reed Lance and Zina Barms Lance. He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the destroyer USS Helena. He graduated from the University of Utah in business administration. Reed lived his life to the fullest in a place that he loved, the Monticello and Moab area. He was a self-taug- archeologist, naturalist and mountain man who joyed hunting, ht en- hiking, rappelling, his old Winchester Lenore Arehart is deeply loved for her special care to Pat and George Putty and is hereby made an honorary member of the family. Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memo- moved up to Middle Weight. During this time, he never lost a fight and had only one draw. He married Ethel Pat Onita Jayroe on Wllaii' 'MUiiWfh! October 18, 1952 in Lovington, New Mexico. They later moved to Grants, New Mexico where George worked in the uranium rifle collection, ceramics, and studying Indian arts including baskets, pottery, and rock art. He was a member of the Utah Rock Art Research Association, Trail of the Ancients, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. While hunting, Reed noticed an unusual area of rock art that proved to be an important discovery of an ancient astrological calendar. This rock art has since been recorded as a State Historical Site and has been named The Lance Site. Reed will be missed deeply by his family and friends.
